GONEZO
Just about a month ago Ruben Amaro Jr. of the Philadelphia Phillies struck a deal with 26 year old Cuban pitching sensation Miguel Alfredo Gonzalez. The initial contract was a six year $48 Million Dollar deal with a seventh year player option. If Gonzalez lives up to his hype, this move can potentially put Philadelphia back in the playoff picture for years to come... but why the hold up?
The Philadelphia have yet to announce a finalized deal, and MLB insider Todd Zolecki reported that the two parties have "hit a snag"in their negotiations, and insists that the deal may not be finalized at all.
After the agreement was initially announced, reports surfaced that many other teams were leery to take a risk on Gonzalez because on bone spur problems in his elbow. I don't know if his elbow problems are the result of the hold up, but it's evident the Phillies aren't just staying quiet because their waiting for Gonzalez get his visa.
This should be a pretty interesting story to unfold once more information is revealed.
Stay tuned.
