Some of you may remember a few weeks back when the 21 year old, well, acted like a 21 year old, and released a photo that went viral of him posing in a 'PED FREE' tee shirt. Now, with the release of his latest photo above, people are going to start asking questions.
Is it fair to instantaneously link Bryce Harper's increase in muscle tone to performance enhancing drugs? No. Will people across America do so anyways? Absolutely.
Maybe he just got yolked by pumping iron all winter, just like Dan Uggla in years past. After all, Harper vowed to come into Spring Training "as big as a house" and through the winter he revealed that he was 'putting on weight, but not sloppy weight.' It doesn't look like Harper was lying.
For all the critics, MLB's Drug Testing Policy will ultimately do the talking. If, for some reason, Harper fails a drug test in the near future, then it's fair to link his recent bulk up to steroids. In the mean time, let's just stick to making fun of him for dieting on Thin Mint's and Samoa's.
On the baseball side of things, the Washington Nationals will be expecting big things out of the OF in his third year at the professional level. If we don't see a spike in his stats in 2014, than many of his supporters will finally render Mike Trout superior to Harper.
