New Jersey Devils prospect and ex-New York Apple Core teammate of mine Steve Santini was on Team USA at the 2014 World Junior Championships, and there's a strong change he'll be on the team for round two in 2015 in Montreal, Canada.
Santini was among the 42 United States born players recently invited to the U.S. Evaluation Camp that will take place in early August and is one of seven players age eligible to return from the USA team that finished fifth in Malmo, Sweden this past May and first in Russia in 2013.
Santini will join fellow EJHL and EmJHL standouts Alex Tuch (Syracuse Jr. Stars) and Connor Clifton (NJ Hitmen).
Santini was a second round pick of the New Jersey Devils in 2013, and while many U.S. scouts praised Lamoriello for the timing of the pick, he seems to be trending upwards since he was selected. Santini is coming off a strong rookie campaign at Boston College in which he posted 3 goals, 8 assists, and + 26 rating under head coach Jerry York.
The Devils look to have a bright young star on the rise and another highly anticipated defensive prospect to add to the likes of Adam Larsson, John Merrill, Eric Gelinas, and Damon Severson.
