The Giants pieced together another abysmal performance yesterday, losing 25-14 to the Arizona Cardinals at MetLife Stadium. Despite having a lead for the first time this season and having ample opportunities to win the game, the Giants still found their way to 0-2 and last place in the NFC East.
Eli Manning was better this time around, completing 26-of-39 passes for 277 yards with two touchdowns and of course - two interceptions, but with that said; and I can't believe I'm saying this about the QB who brought two Super Bowl Championships to the city of New York in five years, it might be time for the Giants to start thinking about life after Eli Manning... soon.
The latest Walter Football Mock Draft, http://walterfootball.com/draft2015.php (something I've been following for quite some time) has got me thinking about 'Famous' Jameis Winston donning the New York Football Giants uniform in 2015.
Though Winston's affection for free Alaskan King Crab leg dinners makes me believe Jerry Reese might want to stay-away from him during the draft, It's always about talent at the end of the day. While Jemeis Winston to the Big Blue with the first or second overall pick in the 2015 Draft might be something too big for most to handle, others will argue that their is nothing too big or too daring for New York Sports Market... so why not?
In my opinion, this is a beautiful possibility. The current situation with the New York Football Giants seems as if it might be time for a quick re-build. I can't really see the Giants completely moving on from Eli Manning, but if they draft Winston they can groom him for a year and see how the Manning situation pans out over the course of next season. If Eli continues to struggle, the Giants will have the most talented player in college football to fall back on.
I don't want to see 'Famous' Jameis end up in Houston, Tampa Bay, or Oakland. The Dallas Cowboys might be an interesting landing spot for the 2013 Heisman Winner, but I think they're going to play Romo till his arm falls off. New York City would be the most exciting landing spot for who I think is the most exciting player in college football entering next years draft, but only time will tell.
One can dream.
