Come-back Kids Bolt into Playoff Race

In an MLB season plagued with injuries, quiet bats, and offensive indifferences, the BIG inning has rapidly befriended the Bronx Bombers.

On Monday night, in game one of their current three game set v. the Chicago White Sox, the Yankees scored eight runs on seven hits and two errors to devastate the 'South Siders' in a 33 minute bottom of the fourth inning. The colossal inning became the biggest inning for the Pinstripes this season and proved to be more than enough for the Yankees to earn the victory, as they cruised to a 9-1 win.

*Two quick side notes from that win;
-Yankees pitching prospect Cesar Cabral earned his first ever major league strikeout in one inning of relief.
- Yankees infield prospect J.R. Murphy earned his first ever major league hit while pitch hitting for Robinson Cano.

Last night, the Yankees struck again for a big inning, as  Eduardo Nunez and company erased a three run deficit in the bottom of the eighth inning and scored five times to complete a 6-4 victory over the bottom dwelling Chicago White Sox. Last night's victory marked the 34th come from behind win of the year for the Yankees. It was also their ninth come back when trailing by three runs or more and their seventh when trailing after seven innings.

More importantly, while the Yankees mounted their second big inning rally is as many days, the Baltimore Orioles fell to the Cleveland Indians, lifting the Yankees a 1/2 game ahead of Baltimore and just 2 1/2 games behind the Tampa Bay Rays for the second American League Wild Card Spot.

In the last 17 days the Yankees have made up some serious ground in the wild card race, as they've surged past the Orioles, Royals, and Indians.

With just one team left between the Yankees and a playoff spot, the AL Wild Card race is surely shaping out to be a very tight finish.

Stay tuned.
