Just when
every thing seemed fine and dandy in the self proclaimed Gotham City, home of
their beloved Matt the “Dark Knight” Harvey -- the new nickname Met fans now
call their Ace and Citi Field, a new villain has ostensibly emerged.
It's not the Joker, the clown prince
of crime. It's not the callous PED abuser Bane. Nor is it the highly appealing
and venomous Poison Ivy...
This foe goes by the name of the
Miami Marlins.
If there were one villain is
particular who could be linked to the Marlins, I would say it's the deceitful
and cunning Riddler.
In his only four starts v. the Miami
Marlins, The 24 year old Matt Harvey has found them literally impossible to
solve. As a matter of fact, Citi Field’s Dark Knight has had his three shortest
outings this season when opposing the Marlins. He is 0-1 with a 3.52 ERA in four
starts against the Marlins this season while going 8-2 with a 1.97 ERA against
the rest of the majors.
Now, a comic book critic might
inventively ask why so serious? An MLB critic would respond in grand fashion… At 8-3 with a 2.21 ERA and 0.88 WHIP, why is
one of the top ace’s in the NL East struggling against the lowest scoring team
with the worst record in the National League?
Here’s what the hero has to say;
“"It's not like I take this start or this team any different than against
any other team. It's just been that team this year that happens to squeeze out
some runs."
Miami Marlins manager Mike Redmond
said. "For whatever reason we really lock it in against him and we've just
been able to kind of rise to the occasion."
Rest assured, the Dark Knight always
seems to find his was out of anything. The Mets play the Miami Marlins four
more times at home the weekend of September 13th-15th….
Let’s see if Harvey can finally lay his foe to rest.
