SORing in the Bronx; 2,000 Career Hits for Alfonso Soriano

Injuries, Alex Rodriguez legal problems, and a flailing front office all plaguing the 2013 New York Yankees campaign turns any positive news into a great story.

This time, the news is coming from an old friend.

Alfonso Soriano borrowed a page from Derek Jeter's DJ3K, as he hit a solo home run off a hanging slider from Justin Verlander to left field to lead off the fourth inning of Sunday's 5-4 walk off win over the Detroit Tigers to earn his 2000th Career Hit.

After the game Alfonso Soriano said "It's nice to get it out of the way, so now I'll feel more comfortable at the plate. I don't have to think about it, getting my 2,000th hit. I'm very happy."

Alfonso Soriano became the 16th active player to reach the 2,000 hit plateau.
