Huge Pay Day for A Rod Lurking

In the midst of last nights 5-2 loss to the Toronto Blue Jays, New York Yankees third basemen Alex Rodriguez connected for a solo home run off of knuckelballer R.A. Dickey in the fifth inning. In doing so, Alex recorded his 650th career home run.

Asterisk or no asterisk, Rodriguez, 38, became just the fifth player in major league history to reach the 650 Home Run plateau.

He is now fifth on the all-time home run list behind Barry Bonds (762)*, Hank Aaron (755), Babe Ruth (714), and The Say Hey Kid Willie Mayes (660).

In lieu of his historic contract extension with the New York Yankees, Alex Rodriguez is set to receive a $6 Million Dollar Bonus if he hits just ten more Homers and ties Willie Mayes for fourth place on the all time list.

With just over a month left to go in the MLB season, ten home runs is not far out of reach. I wonder if Home Run number 650 will speed up a plausible arbitration meeting regarding Alex Rodriguez's 211 game suspension appeal.

Hot stove... '"turnt' up"
