Yankees Pitching Prospect Charged with D.U.I.

First it was Michael Pineda, and now it's 21 year old Pitching Prospect Omar Luis Rodriguez arrested and charged for driving under the influence.

The left handed prospect was pulled over early on Friday morning for driving down the wrong side of a street in Florida in his red Mercedes Benz. Omar Rodriguez was given a sobriety test, and blew a 0.10. The legal limit in Florida is 0.08.

Rodriguez was held in custody at the Hillsborough County Jail and was later released on a $500 bond.

The 6' 210 pounder defected from Cuba in 2012 and received a multi- million dollar signing bonus with the New York Yankees around the same time Michael Pineda was pulled over and arrested for his DUI in Tampa... go figure.

Rodriguez drew significant international interest after pitching for Cuba in the 2010 World Junior Baseball Championships and pitched relatively well last season in the Gulf Coast Rookie League.

The Yankees are yet to release a statement on the situation but hopefully both the Yankees and Rodriguez can put this all behind them. I would love to see how Omar Luis Rodriguez contends in Spring Training  if he's invited.

Even with the signing of Masahiro Tanaka, the back end of the Yankees rotation is wide open. A young talent like Omar Rodriguez can be the last missing piece to the puzzle the Yankees may need to provide a well- rounded Rotation.
