Seattle Ice Hockey?

REPORT: GARY BETTMAN SEEKING NHL EXPANSION TEAM IN SEATTLE WASHINGTON

Usually anytime I see Gary Bettman involved in the news I tend to look the other way and pray for dear life. Lockout, lockout, lockout…Can you blame me?

This time however, Gary Bettman may finally be doing something good for the National Hockey League. According to KJR Seattle Radio host Mitch Levy, Commissioner Gary Bettman is encouraging the NHL Board of Governors to make an expansion team in Seattle, Washington, and as early as 2014-15 season.

Let’s call a spade a spade…one reason why I firmly believe Bettman would already be asserting for this, (if true) is to try and balance out the newly developed conferences with an even number of teams.  Due to the NHL’s new conference alignment, there are currently 16 teams in the Eastern conferences and 14 in the Western conferences. As juvenile as this sounds there is a disparity there that doesn't sit right with the teams contending in the Eastern Conference.
Non the less, if this move was to happen by 2014, there would be plenty of obstacles to hurdle in a short amount of time. You can start by finding an arena, an ownership group etc.…

Here’s a laugh -- I wonder how the Vancouver Canucks will feel when there’s a team just South of them sporting the same team colors as the Seattle Mariners, Seattle Sea Hawks, Seattle Sounders, and well…. The Vancouver Canucks.
